POSHE Profile: Italian-Brazilian Designer Paula Cademartori

With Spring and Summer coming (yay!), my eyes and mind have been consumed with colors - vibrant, vivid, gorgeous colors - and I've found the perfect stimuli to indulge my senses.

Designer, Paula Cademartori

About a year ago, I noticed Paula Cademartori bags being worn by major editors and bloggers, like Anna Dello Russo and Miroslava Duma, but it wasn't until recently that I realized the design genius of its designer and the story behind the brand.

Anna Dello Russo

Miroslava Duma

The Brazilian-born, Milan-based designer, Paula Cademartori, designs colorful geometric patchwork purses and bags that look like little works of art. The former Versace accessories designer has a stocklist that includes Net-a-Porter and Moda Operandi. Her line is whimsical yet structured, with an intelligent and creative approach to style and functionality. She is renown for her color-blocking sensibility and each piece is finished off with a distinctive metal-and-enamel buckle instead of a branded logo.  “The aim of the brand is very feminine; it’s sensual; it’s ecstatic, geometric lines,” says Paula.

Cademartori's bi-cultural life is a clear inspiration for her designs. Her merger of two worlds; the vibrant and exuberant Brazil, with the polished and quality-focused Italy, can be seen in all her creations. She was raised in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where she studied jewelry design, and moved to Italy in 2005 to earn a master’s degree in accessory design. After working for other brands, she launched her own line in 2010 at the age of 26 and her brand has been growing ever since. She is now extending into other categories and recently launched her first shoes collection during Milan Fashion Week, and they are just as stimulating as the bags. “Women who wear them,” she says, “will feel super-sexy, super-cool, super-glamorous, super-wow.”

POSHEstyle: NYFW Day2 - All Leather Romper + Thigh High Boots

Officially my first day at the Mercedes Benz tents (second for NYFW) and I'm already feeling nostalgic. Over the past few seasons I've covered multiple shows as the Fashion Editor for Triple The Focus magazine, and had the experience I always imagined before moving to NYC. I've heard many talks about the great times at Bryant Park, and with Sex and the City being an all time favorite, I can surely respect that; but Lincoln Center gave me my first fashion week high and for me it will always be home.

On my second day I was scheduled to see MONGOL and Mark & Estel (reviews of all the shows will be in the next issue of the magazine and I will post each here as well).  Outfit planning this season was a challenge with the brutally cold weather but fashion always prevails no matter what! (click images to expand)

I decided to do a rocker-chic look this day; ready for Fashion Week domination. I bought these amazing Monika Chiang leather thigh high boots before my month long vacation in the tropics, so I was aching to wear them. As we all know thigh high boots are having a major moment this Fall/Winter season. I paired them with a leather romper from Forever21, a classic ripped knit turtleneck sweater from the New York & Company and an edgy leather moto vest by 6 Shore Road. The look was accessorized with a pair of Ray-Bay wayfarers, an ASOS beanie, Moschino leather belt, Bulova watch and Gucci Soho Disco bag. My vintage SAKS Fifth Avenue fur coat was the final piece for a fashionable but functional, freezing second-first day.

What do guys think about the rocker-chic look? We'd love some feedback and subscribe to our blog to keep up with our posts.

POSHEstyle: NYFW Day1 - White Knit Sweater + Black Leather Skirt

With just one show scheduled off site, the Yuna Yang Fall 2015 collection, my first day of Fashion Week was a breeze. I decided to go with a look that was simple and effortless. It was a very chilly evening in NYC and I wanted to feel cozy and comfortable. For what was to be a light and relaxed night, a classic black and white monochromatic look was a no brainer.

One of my favorite items right now is my pencil leather skirt from my clothing line LAPOSHE. You'll see I wore a few pieces from my collection throughout the week and will have them up on the shop for pre-orders soon.

I paired the skirt with a sleeveless turtleneck sweater vest from Forever21 and a sleek, fitted heat-tech top from Uniqlo. Layered over that was my vintage fur coat, which keeps me so warm I would wear it everyday if I didn't consider that a fashion crime. Aldo ankle booties with gathered socks, and my trusted Gucci Soho Disco bag finished off this feminine yet edgy look. (click images to expand)

My photographer wasn't available this evening so these pics aren't my usual high quality, but I didn't want to not document the look for your guys, so I made due with what I had. Leave a comment below if you like this classic combo.

POSHE Picks: Oscars 2015 Best Dressed

It was difficult choosing a top 5 for this list, as all the stars at this year's Oscars 2015 Academy Awards looked amazing. It was beautiful gowns - one after the other - and the ladies' makeup and hair was done impeccably and to perfection.  I could go on listing, but these are my personal favorites.

Rosamund Pike

She doesn't have the best track record in her choices for the red carpet, as seen at the Golden Globes and SAG awards, but Rosamund Pike saved the best for last at the 2015 Oscars. The Gone Girl actress wore a show-stopping red scallop bodice and lace dress by Givenchy Couture. She paired it with simple and elegant red heels for a red-on-red look. Her makeup was subtle perfection, and the glamorous with an edgy surprise (did you see the back) up-do kept the focus on the gorgeous dress and her insane body after just having a baby. Wow!

Jennifer Lopez

This stunning woman has surely found the fountain of youth somewhere - do tell! The Boy Next Door star looked like a true life princess in a Cinderella-inspired tulle gown with 3D applique details by Elie Saab. The all nude tone gave what is a dramatic piece; a soft, effortless and elegant aura. Known for a sexy smoky look, her makeup too was kept in light blush tones with a pop of pastel pink on the lips and hair in a sleek mid-ponytail. Jennifer Lopez just knows how to get it right!

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon was the epitome of classic beauty in this timeless black and white gown by Tom Ford. The elegant off-the shoulder style is also very on trend, adding a demurely sexy touch. The dress fitted the Wild star's body perfectly, accentuating her feminine curves. Her make-up was kept light with natural matte lips and soft smoky eyes. Her hair was done with a center part and loose glamorous curls. She proves that sometimes less is more and simplicity is key.

Jennifer Aniston

The queen at finding that perfect balance between sweet and sexy. Jennifer Aniston made quite a statement in this perfectly fitted nude Atelier Versace gown with strategically placed sheer elements. The dress' intricate design of sequins shimmered on the red carpet and made the Cake star a glowing goddess. Her look was finished with natural looking lips, smoky eyes and soft wavy hair. Keep the glow coming Jennifer!

Dakota Johnson

The 50 Shades of Grey star is on fire in this red one-shoulder gown by Saint Laurent. Though sleek and simple in context, the jeweled shoulder added just enough sparkle to transform her into red carpet royalty. She paired the dress with elegant metallic gun-metal heels and clutch, and diamond jewelry that complemented the shoulder detail. She went for nude eyes and red-on-red lips for the make-up. A mid-ponytail with her signature pangs finish this fiercely striking look.

What do you guys think? Leave a comment and let me know who were your favorites.

POSHE Travels: Crochet Midi Pencil Dress

Eat. Pray. Love.

Portland, Jamaica.

With just a few days before heading back to NYC, I took a day trip to Portland, Jamaica. This to me is one of the most beautiful, lush and scenic parts of the island. If you haven't visited Jamaica, and specifically here, I suggest you add it to your bucket list - I promise you won't be disappointed.

Frenchmen's Cove

In San-San, Portland, you'll find Frenchmen's Cove - a very unique beach often referred to as "paradise" and rated one of the best in the world. What makes this beach so magical is the amazing way the river meets the ocean in the cove.

The day was a bit overcast but I wouldn't make that spoil the adventure and the elated feeling of actually fitting in a visit. I had planned to take a dip, but instead decided to just enjoyed the scenery, read some magazines and have some "dry" fun. I wore one of my favorite dresses, a crochet, midi, pencil fit dress from Joe Fresh. It's one of those pieces I've dressed up and worn to dinner resulting in heads turning and lots of compliments; and dressed and worn casually with flats, like today. It is super comfortable and very chic. I like to belt it, like I did here with a Delia's belt, to give more definition to the waist. Usually, I wear little to no accessories with it. Today, I paired it with my Bulova watch, a delicate pearl ring and my American Eagle aviators.

My visit was too short but oh so sweet. I can't wait to go back to Portland for an extended stay. I've yet to try the renovated and transformed luxury hotel, Trident Castle. I've heard nothing but rave reviews so it's definitely on my list. I had an amazing vacation in Jamaica - there is just no place like home!

Let me know if you guys have visited as well and how your experience was. Also, if you need any recommended spots as a first-timer or return visitor, I'm happy to share my "must-do" and "must-see" lists.
