POSHEstyle: NYFW - The Luana Satchel + Faux Fur Stole

We've heard it over and over - accessories can make an outfit. This truly is a golden fashion rule....but what's more important is choosing the right accessories that can bring your look from sweet to superstar - just like that!

A budget-friendly outfit can look like a million bucks when paired with carefully selected accents. I'm a very conscious shopper when it comes to clothing - the majority of my wardrobe are bought at fast fashion or mid-priced stores - and my designer pieces are generally a steal at sample sales or major discounted finds. But, accessories I will spend a little more on...because they are the most versatile part of a look, and can stand the test of time - or at least long enough to be worth the splurge.

The classic yet modern look of this Luana Italy leather satchel instantly caught my attention. Its elegant style screams old-hollywood glam, and the edgy hardware detail balances the right touch of contemporary. The best part - the price is accessible and won't break the bank. Talk about affordable luxury at its finest!

A fab fur stole (faux preferably) has been a major trend for fall/winter. I bought this from an independent designer around November, and trust, it was no easy feat waiting out the debut until NYFW. I adore the contrasting sides of stripes and hot pink, the touch is simply divine, and overall, it is just a stunning, eye-catching piece. Here I showed three (3) way I like to wear it - double draped, over-the shoulder, and as a bag accent ;)

Ok, so let's get back to basics of this look. Simplicity can be so stunning, and this American Apparel black turtle-neck, and Zara high-waisted pencil skirt form the perfect team in achieving sophisticated ease.

To keep the vintage-glam homage of this look, the final touches included my Christian Louboutin pigalle pumps, classic Chanel oversized sunglasses, and a timeless Hermes watch.

POSHEstyle: NYFW - Shades of Love

Valentine's Day is suppose to be all warm and fuzzy, right? Well, in NYC this past one was cold and icy! Nonetheless, it is all about what's on the outside, and the record low chilly temperatures didn't stop the heat from turning up for many ;) I spent my day doing something that I LOVE...getting lost in next season's collections and falling madly in love with a few hot thangs.

This red and plum combo had me feeling all kinds of "lovie-dovie" - too bad I didn't exactly have a special someone to be all mushy with -  but I did get some gorgeous roses from an admirer, and they were a warm surprise after a frigid day. I'm a big romantic, and though it may sound cliche, I love the idea of so much love floating in the air :)

A long maxi skirt with an oversized sweater is one of the chicest combos a woman can wear. It's feminine and effortless, and can work casually with flats or sneakers, or dressed up with heels. Pleats have been a big trend for fall/winter, and so has this maroon/burgundy color, so it's double touch point with this beauty from Anthropologie.

A red/burgundy oversized Missoni sweater broke the monotone color when layered with this faux leather moto jacket from Hou5e Boutique. If you don't own a moto jacket as yet, it's a must for every closet - trust it opens a world of style possibilities. You can wear anything, add a moto jacket and it's instantly cool.

I love when shoes are a work of art and these Monika Chiang mohawk pumps are no disappointment. The color, gold accents and unique feature make it quite a standout. Other final details to my NYFW "Shades of Love" look included a Mansur Gavriel coin purse that doubles as a clutch - now that's something that makes my heart smile :)

POSHEstyle: NYFW - Karl Who? Sweatshirt

What a start to 2016 it has been...I've been a little MIA over the past few weeks with juggling work, moving to a new apartment and NYFW all at once, but I did manage to catch a few great shows and those reviews will be up over the next few days. But first up is "What I Wore!" and this is a good one ;)

Who isn't obsessed with Karl Lagerfeld? I will never forget my visit to the Chanel headquarters in Paris and seeing him - always cool, calm and collected. This ultra chic take on the Karl pandemonium instantly caught my attention. The Karl Who? collection of luxury sweatshirts, t-shirts and phones cases are the perfect addition of versatile style to any wardrobe. Dress it up, or dress it down, and still look effortlessly stylish either way.

I saw endless possibilities when I received this royal blue sweatshirt from Shopsocialitte,  and couldn't wait to rock it at fashion week because though it's in actuality a basic, it sure does scream high-fashion - and based on the response to it, I'm not the only person who thought so.

Now, here comes the good part! I've teamed up with the makers of this cool line to offer my readers and followers a chance to own a piece from the collection. One winner will receive a Karl Who? t-shirt which retails for $128, and trust me, though the brand is new, they can not keep up with stock so get in on this! Follow @poshestyle and @shopsocialitte instagram accounts, like the photo with the giveaway details and tag friends for extra entries. Ends March 1st ;)

Ok, enough with my Karl Legerfeld obsession - Let's get to the rest of the outfit. I wanted to give the sweatershirt some dimension so I layered with a stripe oversized button up shirt from JoeFresh. It was historically one of the coldest weekends NYC has had, so I wore a long J.Crew coat and leather gloves. Keeping the relaxed boyfriend theme, I paired these distressed jeans from J.Brand and wore calf high suede BCBG booties to add a dressy touch to a casual look. Chanel sunglasses, Chanel j12 watch and Gucci Soho finished off this NYFW look.

POSHEstyle: The BCBG Maxi Dress

There are so many reasons to love a maxi dress....let's count the ways....

A long flowing dress is the ultimate statement of feminine sophistication. Its soft, elegant silhouette brings an aura of easy, breezy, beautiful. This BCBG maxi was a treat for the final day of NYFW, and the last days of summer. The pastel colors are fresh and striking, and the flowing hemline was like walking on cloud 9 instead of the bricks and concretes of NYC.

It's the perfect summer attire and though not popularly worn, a great transitional piece for fall. The trick is to treat a maxi dress as a skirt; layer with a blazer, a leather jacket, a comfy knit sweater. I wore it with this linen boyfriend blazer by Comptoir des Cotonneirs. It added an element of effortless chicness, and was airy enough for a cool summer day.

The racerback cut at the back of the dress is sporty and flirty. I personally find a detailed back very alluring and one of the sexiest cuts a woman can wear.

Another great thing about a maxi dress - it elongates the body - so if you want to look a couple inches taller, add a pair of heels and let your inner model shine. These gold gladiator sandals by Guess surely did the trick for me!

I kept the accessories gold, wearing a vintage Chanel bag, Bulova watch, and a clinched belt to define the waistline.  The metallic accents picked up the shimmer in the blazer, and was a neutral complement against such a colorful dress.

I couldn't have closed NYFW any better way than wearing this beautiful, elegant dress - I got so many compliments, and sweet gestures as I ran between shows on the streets on NYC. I felt like a real life princess - a maxi will do that to you...try it!

POSHEstyle: The Linen Blazer

Born an island girl, linen is one of my favorite fabrics to wear. It's cool, clean, chic, and a great transitional piece from summer to fall.

I had been coveting this Banana Republic jacket from in the Spring, but it wasn't until late summer, and an awesome sale, that I got my hands on it.  The boyfriend fit is relaxed, and brings a casual element to a typically structured piece. It's easy to wear and great for layering.

Blue jeans and a white shirt is quite possibly the easiest look anyone can throw together, and that's exactly what I did for this NYFW look. This soft, chiffon top by Liz Claiborne gave the outfit a feminine touch, against the more rugged, distressed Current Elliott denim shorts.

Layering Sara Designs tribal necklaces added a pop of color and playfulness, especially complemented with this beauty of a shoe from Zara. The lace-up look ruled the pave walks all summer and walked its way right into the hottest trends for fall too.

Now, to my favorite new item! On my recent European trip (posts still to come) I stopped in Paris for a couple days and made a visit to the LV flagship store. Needless to say, the Louis Vuitton Capucines BB returned to NYC with me. Its compact size and classic style is perfection. The arm handle and the shoulder strap make it versatile, and the nude color goes with everything!

Living in NYC, I don't wear shorts as much as I did in my island days, but layer a boyfriend blazer and add a pair of strappy sandals - and viola -  short shorts are city chic! (click to expand)
