POSHEstyle: NYFW - Shades of Love

Valentine's Day is suppose to be all warm and fuzzy, right? Well, in NYC this past one was cold and icy! Nonetheless, it is all about what's on the outside, and the record low chilly temperatures didn't stop the heat from turning up for many ;) I spent my day doing something that I LOVE...getting lost in next season's collections and falling madly in love with a few hot thangs.

This red and plum combo had me feeling all kinds of "lovie-dovie" - too bad I didn't exactly have a special someone to be all mushy with -  but I did get some gorgeous roses from an admirer, and they were a warm surprise after a frigid day. I'm a big romantic, and though it may sound cliche, I love the idea of so much love floating in the air :)

A long maxi skirt with an oversized sweater is one of the chicest combos a woman can wear. It's feminine and effortless, and can work casually with flats or sneakers, or dressed up with heels. Pleats have been a big trend for fall/winter, and so has this maroon/burgundy color, so it's double touch point with this beauty from Anthropologie.

A red/burgundy oversized Missoni sweater broke the monotone color when layered with this faux leather moto jacket from Hou5e Boutique. If you don't own a moto jacket as yet, it's a must for every closet - trust it opens a world of style possibilities. You can wear anything, add a moto jacket and it's instantly cool.

I love when shoes are a work of art and these Monika Chiang mohawk pumps are no disappointment. The color, gold accents and unique feature make it quite a standout. Other final details to my NYFW "Shades of Love" look included a Mansur Gavriel coin purse that doubles as a clutch - now that's something that makes my heart smile :)

POSHE Profile: Italian-Brazilian Designer Paula Cademartori

With Spring and Summer coming (yay!), my eyes and mind have been consumed with colors - vibrant, vivid, gorgeous colors - and I've found the perfect stimuli to indulge my senses.

Designer, Paula Cademartori

About a year ago, I noticed Paula Cademartori bags being worn by major editors and bloggers, like Anna Dello Russo and Miroslava Duma, but it wasn't until recently that I realized the design genius of its designer and the story behind the brand.

Anna Dello Russo

Miroslava Duma

The Brazilian-born, Milan-based designer, Paula Cademartori, designs colorful geometric patchwork purses and bags that look like little works of art. The former Versace accessories designer has a stocklist that includes Net-a-Porter and Moda Operandi. Her line is whimsical yet structured, with an intelligent and creative approach to style and functionality. She is renown for her color-blocking sensibility and each piece is finished off with a distinctive metal-and-enamel buckle instead of a branded logo.  “The aim of the brand is very feminine; it’s sensual; it’s ecstatic, geometric lines,” says Paula.

Cademartori's bi-cultural life is a clear inspiration for her designs. Her merger of two worlds; the vibrant and exuberant Brazil, with the polished and quality-focused Italy, can be seen in all her creations. She was raised in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where she studied jewelry design, and moved to Italy in 2005 to earn a master’s degree in accessory design. After working for other brands, she launched her own line in 2010 at the age of 26 and her brand has been growing ever since. She is now extending into other categories and recently launched her first shoes collection during Milan Fashion Week, and they are just as stimulating as the bags. “Women who wear them,” she says, “will feel super-sexy, super-cool, super-glamorous, super-wow.”
