POSHESTYLE: Denim on Denim + Fall Feelings

Fall is quite honestly my favorite season - not only because it gives me the challenge of creatively layering and styling - but more so because it ignites a fire within me to close the year having made progress, and to prepare for an even better year ahead. I know....talking about the new year already....what??....well September has always felt like the real start of everything new for me...so HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

It is also the time that I reflect most on the year I have had, and what I need to work on - personally, professionally, physically and mentally. I tend to draw back socially and take time to myself to go through a self and life analysis. This year in particular has been filled with extremities. Personally - I finally let go of someone I loved dearly and held on to in my heart for years, but oddly it's been one of the most exhilarating things to feel at peace with your past. Professionally - I've successfully contributed to building the business of a very reputable brand, whilst I've struggled with the growth of my own...including this one...but I love what I do and I'm one determined woman so it will happen! Physically - I was awaken to the reality that my metabolism isn't invincible and it's time to get disciplined and serious about my health, which also excites me because who doesn't love all the cute gear - everywhere! Mentally - there have been some real headaches, but I've realized that what's most important is focusing on the positives, living in the now, and being unapologetically true to you no matter what life throws your way.

Ok...I've been all up in my feelings - so lets talk some fashion now. Denim on denim is more a classic look than a trend, but the combo is hot on the radar right now - especially with how "warm" the weather has been. Denim is the perfect transitional fabric...it's great for laying on a cool day. This oversized jacket is perfect because it can be worn with a t-shirt when the temperature turns up, or with heavier knits when it gets colder. The python print adds a very chic touch to these Rock & Republic jeans, so I knew instantly they were a must have - add a simple white tank it's a perfect complement.

As for the added touches of paired accessories - python Louboutins and minimal classic jewelry like this Hermes Heure H watch - took this look from streets to suites. The backpack is the ultimate chic carry along, and this Mansur Gavriel makes a very clean and clear statement. A pair of RayBan aviators pulls this ultra cool - effortlessly glam look together.

POSHEstyle: The James "Twiggy" Jeans

When it comes to jeans, we're all looking for that perfect fit, and these come pretty close...

During Fashion Week in September, I was invited to a blogger event by a brand - James Jeans - out of L.A. I had never heard of them, but after a little background check realized it was a 10-year brand, sold in some of the most premium stores in the US, and a not-to-miss event.

The result of that dedication - a goodie bag that included the "Twiggy" skinny jeans. I'm crazy about these jeans and now a big fan of the brand. The fit is great, fabric is comfortable, and the high-waisted look is super chic. I feel so at ease and light in them- a rarity - and the special dart design feature on the back pockets really does help to shape those ass-ets ;)

I bought this "We are all cool kids" t-shirt a few months ago and if you know me, you know I love any and everything inspirational and uplifting. Le Motto does just that with its positive messages t-shirt line.  Being born in Jamaica, I grew up with the principle of "One Love" for all humanity. I am extremely anti-bully and live by the notion of an inclusive society, where no one should feel like an outcast. It breaks my heart to see the state our world and its people are in, and this t-shirt is just a little reminder we are ALL special.

I layered the outfit with a metallic tweed bomber jacket by Petticoat Alley, and finished the look with a pair of wine red BCBG pumps, my everyday accessories - Bulova watch, Cartier Love ring, midi rings - and another obsession of mine, the Gucci Soho bag.

This is an outfit that is not only chic but equally comfortable...so much so, I think I may wear it again today :)

POSHEstyle: The BCBG Maxi Dress

There are so many reasons to love a maxi dress....let's count the ways....

A long flowing dress is the ultimate statement of feminine sophistication. Its soft, elegant silhouette brings an aura of easy, breezy, beautiful. This BCBG maxi was a treat for the final day of NYFW, and the last days of summer. The pastel colors are fresh and striking, and the flowing hemline was like walking on cloud 9 instead of the bricks and concretes of NYC.

It's the perfect summer attire and though not popularly worn, a great transitional piece for fall. The trick is to treat a maxi dress as a skirt; layer with a blazer, a leather jacket, a comfy knit sweater. I wore it with this linen boyfriend blazer by Comptoir des Cotonneirs. It added an element of effortless chicness, and was airy enough for a cool summer day.

The racerback cut at the back of the dress is sporty and flirty. I personally find a detailed back very alluring and one of the sexiest cuts a woman can wear.

Another great thing about a maxi dress - it elongates the body - so if you want to look a couple inches taller, add a pair of heels and let your inner model shine. These gold gladiator sandals by Guess surely did the trick for me!

I kept the accessories gold, wearing a vintage Chanel bag, Bulova watch, and a clinched belt to define the waistline.  The metallic accents picked up the shimmer in the blazer, and was a neutral complement against such a colorful dress.

I couldn't have closed NYFW any better way than wearing this beautiful, elegant dress - I got so many compliments, and sweet gestures as I ran between shows on the streets on NYC. I felt like a real life princess - a maxi will do that to you...try it!

POSHElist: Lusting for Fall 2015

What's on my wish list this season? Quality not Quantity - that's for sure! Here are a few pieces I am going absolutely gaga for this fall.

The black has been a love for a little while now and a necessity for any wardrobe (black boots that is), but this wine color Valentino is fall trend perfection and sure to score major style points this fall.

Long sweaters aren't exactly a crazy trend this fall but they are always chic and so versatile. I love wearing as a dress with thigh high boots, over a maxi skirt for feminine layers, and with stockings and ankle boots. Kenzo makes some of the best sweaters and this one is no different.

The lace-up look has been trending all summer and continues into fall. Naturally, as it's cooling down, the close toe, ballet flats is the style of choice and I am smitten with these snake prints from Asos.

Gimme, gimme, gimme more! I love Louboutin and I dream of these "So Kate" being home sweet home. A leopard print pump is a classic that works with everything, so investing in a pair will serve you well.

Pleats and leather - a match made in heaven for me! I am obsessed with this 1.State colorblock skirt. It's the perfect blend of sophisticated, edgy and chic. Be sure to include pleated skirts in your fall style...you wont regret it!

What do you think about my lust list....are you loving or leaving this fall?
