POSHEstyle: Ripped Jeans + Metallics

Every time my mom sees me wearing these jeans she asks "why do you look like you were attacked by a wild animal" or "like you are homeless and can't afford a good pair of jeans" - she kinda has a valid point..LOL! But, I love a good cool, distressed, rebellious look every now and again.

I swear by how comfy these Zara boyfriend jeans are - they are my go-to #airportstyle when traveling and are so airy and cool for the summer. I wear them with kicks, heels, sandals - dressed up and dressed down.

This top is from one of my all time favorite designers - Daniel Silverstain - his style is so NYC - cool, chic and collected! The leather is light and the mesh details breathable, making it wearable in warmer times, but a perfect laying piece for cooler temperatures. The bag is from Katie Lares - she uses unconventional household hardware as accessories - like the handle on this petite beauty. The ring is from the Solomeina collection and makes a statement all on its own - no other jewelry necessary! All these amazing designs are available at Flying Solo NYC - a collective in Soho (434 West Broadway) owned and operated by the designers - that's pretty amazing!

I literally live in these Kensie shoes, and I am seriously on the hunt to find the exact pair - because I regret not buying a backup. They are neutral, stylish, comfortable - every standard passed for shoe perfection. If you see them anywhere - GRAB THEM!!!!!

I couldn't finish this post without talking about this mural wall I found in Soho - a little boy on a small bicycle challenging the older, aggressive, mean-looking competition on their motorcycles - making his own luck! It wasn't until after seeing the images, that I realized how dynamic and inspirational the message was - and how coincidentally perfect the wall was for this look - rough, rugged jeans and an armor inspired stop - the law of attraction! In life, you can't sit back and be fearful - waiting for things to go your way - you have to be ready for the challenges, ready to fight for what you want, ready to prove your magic - ready to "Let It Rip!!"

POSHEstyle: Pretty in Pink - DateNight Yes or No?

Ok guys, so I have a lot of catching up to do - I have been so MIA this year with my blog posts because life has just been craaazy!!! But, I'm back with a vengeance of backed up posts and some killer new content to make it up to you ;)

So, my colleague wore a flowy, shift dress to work yesterday. She looked so elegant and feminine, I asked if she "had a date later." She replied by saying "in this, no - I would be in a more fitted dress." This spiked the conversation as to what to wear on a date. I generally go for a fit and flare style, or highlight my legs or my shoulders - I feel flirty and feminine. Her "go-to" look is a form-fitted dress or a pencil skirt and top - she feels sexy, yet sophisticated. So the question is, which is more appealing for the man? Hmmm....

A week ago, I met up with my ex-boyfriend for a friendly dinner after work. I wore this pretty pink floral dress from H&M. They say you should always be on "10" when an ex sees you, but I was feeling so casual and relaxed, I didn't put much thought into it. It wasn't until 5 mins before meeting up with him I thought, "I probably shouldn't have worn this frumpy, practically fully covered, no shape defining dress." However, to my surprise, he gave me more compliments on my outfit that evening than he ever had. Needless to say, my "grandma-esque" dress was a hit!

That just goes to show, that as women, we shouldn't put such stress on what we think a man will or will not like - just be ourselves, be confident and if he is worth it, he'll appreciate it! There is no hard rule on what to wear for a date-night, but make sure you present "you" in a way that makes you feel at your optimal from the inside-out - whether it be "the girl next door", "the sexy vixen", "the fairy princess", "the tomboy" - own it and rock it!!

To pull this sweet summer look together, I paired Vanessa Wu color-block heels with this dress. They are so comfy and versatile for day to night plans, and also comes in a striking maroon and black combo. For daytime, I suggest carrying a nice lady bag and for evening a pretty clutch like this one from Kalamarie Handbags. They are both available at our designer collective - Flying Solo - located at 434 West Broadway in Soho. Yes we moved...to a gorgeous new space...previously occupied by Roberto Cavalli - how fab!!!

What is your "go-to" look for a date night? Comment below and tell us what you have experienced makes the best impression for you. I would love to share some of your "date tales" with my followers on instastories. That should be fun :)

POSHEstyle: We Are All Cool Kids - 1950s Style!

There's a retro evolution this season that has made vintage-inspired styles mainstream contemporary. From the 1950s sophisticated glam to the 1970s free-spirited expressions, old is the ultimate new!

I've always been fascinated by old hollywood's classic movies and tales of glitz, glamour and high-fashion. The days when women and men always put their best foot forward; making sure they made a good impression and commanded any room they entered. It's this underling attitude that I encourage my clients to adapt - having pride in their personal presentation and communication to the world. Times and styles may have changed, but the essence of being the best version of yourself should always remain!

I saw this retro-inspired, scooped neck t-shirt by Le Motto on Instagram a few weeks ago. I immediately decided to scoop one up for myself and was so excited to receive it. I love and support the movement it stands for, "Because Your Words Have Power. Wear and Share Good Words." I bought the "We Are All Cool Kids" shirt because it's along the same inclusive philosophy I govern my life and work by, but there are definitely a few more on my "POSHE List" to get.

With a 1950s inspiration, I paired the scooped neck t-shirt with a full midi skirt by H&M, keeping the look monochromatic in black and white with accents of gold. The skirt is fun, feminine and gives the casual t-shirt a sophisticated, retro punch.

This gorgeous purse is very special to me, as it belonged to my aunt who passed last year. That's what I adore about vintage pieces, there's a history, a life, a piece of soul connected to each piece. I think she would approve of how I'm wearing it and that's a pleasant thought to have.

I kept the other accessories very minimal as well; my Bulova watch, a gold ring, vintage belt and Versace sunglasses. The look was finished off with a pair of classic Christian Louboutin pumps for an effortless feel.

I styled the white t-shirt with all black not just because it's chic, but because I wanted the main focus for this outfit to be its message. I strongly believe words are powerful and we should all make more effort to express them in a positive and uplifting way to ourselves and to others.
