POSHEstyle: Mod Inspired + Thigh High Boots

How do you wear thigh high boots running from show to show during NYFW?? First step - make sure they are comfy!

After closing down and taking a break, Monika Chiang is back with a focus on shoes. These boots were a score from her previous collection and I am obsessed with them. The lace-up design at the back keeps them snug on my slender legs, and the height is perfect with a little dress or equally chic with a pair of jeans. Thigh high boots are a "must-have" for fall with suede styles taking the lead roll, but leather is never far behind.

This season is all about retro references, and the moment I saw this Zara dress I thought 60s mod. The shift cut, geometric print and peter pan collar were no brainers for this look.

I added a pop of the season's "it color" burgundy with a H&M fedora and Sephora lip color in rouge. I rarely wear a dark lip but when I do, I gotta admit, I feel a little like a kick-ass vixen. POW!

The final touches: a Versace marble sunnies, Chanel J12 watch and Chanel Classic handbag pulled the mod look together, making me a happy wannabe Twiggy for the day :)

POSHEstyle: NYFW Day4 - Grey Maxi Coat

I have an absolute fascination with anything "maxi" - dress, skirt, pants - and ultimately, coats!

This day was one of the most frigid for fashion week, and with my schedule running from Vivienne Hu at 10am to FTL MODA at 7pm, I had to prepare for what was going to be a very long and cold day. It was also the premiere weekend for the movie, "50 Shades of Grey", so with all things considered I decided to go with a long maxi coat I had designed, which coincidentally, has different shades of grey.

Grey was a major color for Fall/Winter 2014, but what was distinct about this fabric to me is the plaid print, which was also a hit trend for the season. I love how the one piece merged different "on-trend" elements together - shades of grey, plaid and a pop of green - in such a subtle and chic way.

I wanted to keep the coat the focal point and therefore styled it with monochromatic shades by pairing it with grey skinny jeans from Rag & Bone and a grey Equipment turtleneck sweater, layered with my black vintage coat for added warmth. Monika Chiang thigh high boots and a Chanel Le Boy bag elevated the look with a classic edge, and a vintage lion brooch and my American Eagle mirrored sunnies added minimal accents to the overall look. This was one of my personal favorite looks of all the outfits I wore for NYFW because I like working trends into my wardrobe in a way that is uniquely my style, and tailored in such a way that it can remain current even after the trend has passed.

POSHEstyle: NYFW Day2 - All Leather Romper + Thigh High Boots

Officially my first day at the Mercedes Benz tents (second for NYFW) and I'm already feeling nostalgic. Over the past few seasons I've covered multiple shows as the Fashion Editor for Triple The Focus magazine, and had the experience I always imagined before moving to NYC. I've heard many talks about the great times at Bryant Park, and with Sex and the City being an all time favorite, I can surely respect that; but Lincoln Center gave me my first fashion week high and for me it will always be home.

On my second day I was scheduled to see MONGOL and Mark & Estel (reviews of all the shows will be in the next issue of the magazine and I will post each here as well). Outfit planning this season was a challenge with the brutally cold weather but fashion always prevails no matter what! (click images to expand)

I decided to do a rocker-chic look this day; ready for Fashion Week domination. I bought these amazing Monika Chiang leather thigh high boots before my month long vacation in the tropics, so I was aching to wear them. As we all know thigh high boots are having a major moment this Fall/Winter season. I paired them with a leather romper from Forever21, a classic ripped knit turtleneck sweater from the New York & Company and an edgy leather moto vest by 6 Shore Road. The look was accessorized with a pair of Ray-Bay wayfarers, an ASOS beanie, Moschino leather belt, Bulova watch and Gucci Soho Disco bag. My vintage SAKS Fifth Avenue fur coat was the final piece for a fashionable but functional, freezing second-first day.
