It can be quite an experience and culture shock moving from one country to another, especially when they are drastically different in culture and even more so in weather. I had a new client, freshly moved to NYC from the Jamaica. Now, we are know how beautiful and tropical the Caribbean is - the sun shining, beaches, bright colors and an overall relaxed energy. This can make moving to a big city with a fluctuating climate intimidating for some.

My client wanted to transition her look from island style to city chic, but she also needed to do this on a budget.

In a case like this, I always recommend building a wardrobe with classic basics and then adding more trendy looks. Start with neutral tones before incorporating colors and prints. Another great tip is to shop the sales. You don’t have to substitute quality on a budget-friendly wallet if you shop smart.
