POSHEstyle: We Are All Cool Kids - 1950s Style!

There's a retro evolution this season that has made vintage-inspired styles mainstream contemporary. From the 1950s sophisticated glam to the 1970s free-spirited expressions, old is the ultimate new!

I've always been fascinated by old hollywood's classic movies and tales of glitz, glamour and high-fashion. The days when women and men always put their best foot forward; making sure they made a good impression and commanded any room they entered. It's this underling attitude that I encourage my clients to adapt - having pride in their personal presentation and communication to the world. Times and styles may have changed, but the essence of being the best version of yourself should always remain!

I saw this retro-inspired, scooped neck t-shirt by Le Motto on Instagram a few weeks ago. I immediately decided to scoop one up for myself and was so excited to receive it. I love and support the movement it stands for, "Because Your Words Have Power. Wear and Share Good Words." I bought the "We Are All Cool Kids" shirt because it's along the same inclusive philosophy I govern my life and work by, but there are definitely a few more on my "POSHE List" to get.

With a 1950s inspiration, I paired the scooped neck t-shirt with a full midi skirt by H&M, keeping the look monochromatic in black and white with accents of gold. The skirt is fun, feminine and gives the casual t-shirt a sophisticated, retro punch.

This gorgeous purse is very special to me, as it belonged to my aunt who passed last year. That's what I adore about vintage pieces, there's a history, a life, a piece of soul connected to each piece. I think she would approve of how I'm wearing it and that's a pleasant thought to have.

I kept the other accessories very minimal as well; my Bulova watch, a gold ring, vintage belt and Versace sunglasses. The look was finished off with a pair of classic Christian Louboutin pumps for an effortless feel.

I styled the white t-shirt with all black not just because it's chic, but because I wanted the main focus for this outfit to be its message. I strongly believe words are powerful and we should all make more effort to express them in a positive and uplifting way to ourselves and to others. POSHEstyle: Coachella Inspired - Tie & Dye + Fringe

I love how the '70s boho-hippie era has returned with a vengeance this season. Its anything goes, carefree, life loving spirit is exactly what we needed to lighten the mood and energy for Spring/Summer 2015.

Clearly, this trend was a match made in heaven for Coachella this year, as there were no shortage of outfit options for its festival enthusiasts; with designers from high to low churning out inspired pieces. If you weren't able to attend this year, like myself, you could still be apart of the infectious energy by rocking your indie-inspired looks - and I did just that!

This lovely tie-dye dress from ASOS was a gift from one of my best friends. The pencil silhouette defines the curves and elongates the body, but the fit is loose enough on the body to feel easy and comfortable. Pastel blue is a trendy color this Spring and this subtle tie-dye pattern gives just the perfect touch of bohemian chicness. The tea length keeps the maxi feel whilst exposing the shoes, but this dress also looks stunning belted as a midi look.

I paired the dress with gladiator-inspired footwear by Fergie. These heels look amazing with everything - dresses, skirts, pants, shorts. I'll definitely be showing you a few more styles to rock them with as they are set to be a repeat offender.

Fringe, as you all must know, is the season's must do. This RichCoco suede fringe jacket was a steal. I've seen a lot of jackets this season with fringe along the sleeves, around the neckline and on the front, but what stood out to me with this one, was the fringe detail at the back.

I added some extra fringe-on-fringe fun with this cute bag I bought years ago from a Jamaican designer. The neutral tones in this animal print makes it a versatile piece, and though I have gone through a few bags over the years, I've held on tightly to this little number. It's extra special to me because I get true happiness supporting small local artisans.

For the accessories, it was all about layering natural elements and symbolic pieces. The more the merrier is the hippie philosophy, so I wore a Ferragamo aviator, my Boluva watch, a leather wrap studded bracelet, Sara Designs evil eye bracelets and a padlock necklace, a couple random rings from a holiday market and a Murano glass ring I bought in Venice 5 years ago. My final touch was a StruckxGold case for my newly acquired iPhone6. The graphic graffiti design is ultra-cool and it's bold colors and musical influences make it Coachella approved.  Remember, this era had no rules, so don't be afraid to pile on the accessories and have fun doing it. POSHEstyle: Boyfriend Jeans + Kimono

Spring is here...Finally! Yes, at 60 degrees I am in celebratory mode and ready to pull out the tank tops and show some bare skin.

I think I can safely say for many - this winter has been a mental struggle and a true test of our threshold for the cold and living in NYC. But, it seems the bi-polar weather is behind us - fingers crossed - and it's time to fall back in love with the city that has captured our hearts.

Spring is a time to get out and smell the roses - venture outside the proximity of our NYC square footages and come alive again. It's time to lose all the layers and gravitate towards feeling light and airy. And, what better way to do this than with the classic blue jeans and white shirt combo? It's just so fresh, so clean!

Denim is on the hot list for Spring, but not your typical skinny jeans. It's all about having a variety this season, and the Boyfriend jeans is a must for your closet - it's chic, comfortable and scores major cool points on the style radar. I scored this pair from Forever21 two years ago - back then it was a little looser - which I prefer - but it still fits nicely, so not too much complaints here. The ripped details are also hugely trending this Spring, so if you have an old pair and don't want to spurge on this look, grab those scissors and start snipping away. I paired it with a simple white tank from American Apparel, white python Christian Louboutin pigalle, my Coach tote and Ray-Ban wayfarer.

What's also back for the season - KIMONOS. From boho-fringe to asian inspired, these pieces add an extra oomph for a casually chic look. I love this piece from Ecote I bought last year at Urban Outfitters. It's super trendy now, but its subtle print and classic color gives it staying power even after the trend has passed. It can also be belted and worn as a dress - talk about multi-purpose and budget-friendly!

I kept the entire outfit in a monochromatic blue and white color tone, giving it a very easy, breezy, beautiful feel. Can someone say - Covergirl? (click images to expand)

POSHEstyle: NYFW Day6 - Plaid Culotte Jumpsuit

It was my final day at MBFW and honestly I could not have been happier. Fashion Week is my favorite time of the year. I plan months in advance for the season. It's exciting and fun, but it's also exhausting and at this point I was wiped.

I saved, what's the hottest trend this Spring and sure to follow through to Fall - as seen on the runways - for my closing piece. This plaid culotte jumpsuit - an original design from my LAPOSHE brand.

Next to the LAPOSHE maxi coat I wore on day 4, this was my favorite look for the week. I love a classic black and white combination and this plaid print added dimension and interest. The vertical lines elongate the frame and the boned bodice gives support.

I layered the jumpsuit over a crisp white ASOS button-down shirt, giving it a super chic and tailored element. The coverage also made it more sophisticated and professional. This culotte look can easily transition into corporate style for the office. A silk Chanel coat and black stockings added more layers for warmth and comfort. A vintage leather belt, which defined the waistline, and my Christian Louboutin white python pumps were the perfect pairing. My Chanel Le Boy Bag, Bulova watch and vintage brooch, had subtle accents of gold that popped against the black and white. I am so happy with how this look turned out, I would wear it over and over again! (click to expand)

POSHEstyle: NYFW Day4 - Grey Maxi Coat

I have an absolute fascination with anything "maxi" - dress, skirt, pants - and ultimately, coats!

This day was one of the most frigid for fashion week, and with my schedule running from Vivienne Hu at 10am to FTL MODA at 7pm, I had to prepare for what was going to be a very long and cold day. It was also the premiere weekend for the movie, "50 Shades of Grey", so with all things considered I decided to go with a long maxi coat I had designed, which coincidentally, has different shades of grey.

Grey was a major color for Fall/Winter 2014, but what was distinct about this fabric to me is the plaid print, which was also a hit trend for the season. I love how the one piece merged different "on-trend" elements together - shades of grey, plaid and a pop of green - in such a subtle and chic way.

I wanted to keep the coat the focal point and therefore styled it with monochromatic shades by pairing it with grey skinny jeans from Rag & Bone and a grey Equipment turtleneck sweater, layered with my black vintage coat for added warmth. Monika Chiang thigh high boots and a Chanel Le Boy bag elevated the look with a classic edge, and a vintage lion brooch and my American Eagle mirrored sunnies added minimal accents to the overall look. (click to expand)

This was one of my personal favorite looks of all the outfits I wore for NYFW because I like working trends into my wardrobe in a way that is uniquely my style, and tailored in such a way that it can remain current even after the trend has passed.

What do you guys think about this look? I'd love to hear your feedback on the coat I designed and send me an email if you are interested in owning one of your own.
