Streetstyle: The Classic Black and White
There are certain looks that have transcended the test of time and trends to become classics: black and white is one such style combination. There is arguably no other combo more timeless than this pairing. There is an effortless glamour to this aesthetics that never fails to appeal to the masses. The silhouettes naturally play a part in the overall motif that is translated but generally the colors together are iconic.
No closet should be without the versatility of a button down shirt and the “boyfriend shirt’ is merely an oversized version of this classic piece worn by a woman with confidence and grace. There is an undeniable sexiness about a woman rocking a menswear inspired look that I personally find captivating and empowering.

I found this steal of a boyfriend shirt a few weeks ago at JoeFresh while on a makeover excursion with one of my clients (see post “Make Me Over”). Even though it already had a boyfriend fit, I bought it a size up from my usual as I often do with oversized clothing as I prefer the looser look.
On what was a beautiful fall day, I wore it with a pencil leather skirt from my clothing line Laposhe (contact here to pre-order) to keep the tone of the overall look strong but still sophisticated and elegant. A pair of white Christian Louboutin python pigalle polished the look and my Ray-Ban wayfarer sunnies kept the cool factor present. I added a little glitz and glam in the mix with a bejeweled necklace from our shop (coming soon) and kept the other accessories minimalistic; wearing only my Chanel J12 watch, diamond stud earrings and a few midi rings.
I loved the simplicity and ease of this look. It’s an interesting paradox when a look considered masculine can make a woman feel so feminine.

The best thing about fashion now, is there are no rules! Casual has gone glam, dressy now works as daywear, we wear white after labor day and who doesn’t mix metallics? It’s all about knowing how to transition each piece into something unorthodox and untraditional.
About 8 years ago I developed an obsession with thigh high boots. I wanted a black leather or suede pair and was on the hunt for one that would fit my college budget.
